"We've been asked to condemn the aggression in Ukraine some remain muted in front of the atrocities inflicted on Palestinians, particularly. It doesn't their sense of justice and compassion. Expressively, how wonderful it is if we are steadfast in upholding justice. For these lost (Palestinian) lives." Anwar Ibrahim, APEC Economic Leaders' Retreat 2023.

The atrocities we witness, such as genocide, ethnic cleansing, war crimes, and systemic violence against vulnerable populations, are a blight on our humanity and a violation of our shared values of dignity, equality, and justice. They result in immeasurable human suffering, loss of life, and the destruction of communities and cultures. Stopping the atrocities requires sustained commitment, cooperation, and collaboration at national and international levels. By working together to address the root causes of these crimes and to provide assistance to affected populations, we can strive to create a world where human dignity is respected, and where peace and justice prevail.

The conflict between Israel and Palestine, which has resulted in the loss of millions of lives and forced the displacement of millions, traces its origins back to an act of colonization that took place over one hundred years ago. With Israel announcing a state of war on the Gaza Strip in response to an unprecedented assault carried out by the armed Palestinian faction Hamas, the international community's attention is once again keenly fixed on the potential outcomes of this escalating conflict.

Al-Faruqi (2006: 92) defines Zionism as a movement started by Theodore Herzl after he was disappointed by the Dreyfus Affair. It aimed to establish a Jewish state in Palestine and neighboring areas, similar to the way England is English. The Dreyfus scandal occurred in France between 1894 and 1906, involving Alfred Dreyfus, a French Jewish captain accused of leaking military secrets to Germany. This event led to widespread anti-Semitism in Europe, prompting Herzl to start a movement demanding a homeland for the Jewish diaspora. The incident made Herzl realize that even a progressive country like France can become engulfed in anti-Semitism, with crowds chanting "kill the Jews" in Paris. Where else can they feel safe but in their homeland? Assimilation won't work since the Gentile world opposes it, as evidenced by the Deyfus affair (al-Faruqi, 2006).

Do Jewish people and Zionism have distinct ideologies?

The answer is YES, Judaism and Zionism are different concepts. Judaism is a religious and cultural belief system that encompasses a wide range of beliefs, practices, and traditions. It is the religion of the Jewish people, and it has a long history dating back thousands of years. Zionism, on the other hand, is a political and nationalist movement that emerged in the late 19th century with the aim of establishing and maintaining a Jewish state in the historic land of Israel. While many Jews are supportive of the concept of Zionism and the existence of the State of Israel, not all Jews identify as Zionists. Additionally, there are non-Jews who support the idea of Zionism for various reasons. It's important to recognize that not all Jews are supportive of Zionism, and there are divers perspectives within the Jewish community regarding the relationship between Judaism and Zionism.

However, the peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians have made very little headway due to the unjust favoritism shown by Western powers towards Israel. This diplomatic failure has caused an ongoing spiral of violence and insecurity. Many attempts at striking a long-lasting agreement through peace talks.

The United Nations is being controlled by western powers, particularly the United States, and it is not effectively addressing the Israeli war crimes happening in the Gaza strip and the West Bank. The UN's sudden failure is the main reason why the conflict's devastating effects, such as people being forcefully moved from their homes, not having access to essential services, and facing economic struggles, continue to harm the lives of innocent people. Israel must be compelled to adhere to these resolutions in order to make progress on crucial matters like borders, settlements, and the status of Jerusalem.

"And I said to you last night, I remember your role as the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations of the Caucus, your finding, against my persecution and ( the condemnation ) against, the time i was in prison, is purely based on the principle of justice and human rights. That's all the we doing. Stop these atrocities. Stop the killing of the women and children." Anwar Ibrahim, APEC Economic Leaders' Retreat 2023.
